About

Don’t Mourn, Organize! Is a small leather goods operation based in Springville, Utah. The name comes from a quotation by Joe Hill who proclaimed just before his death by firing squad by the state of Utah., “I die like a true blue rebel. Don’t waste any time in mourning. Organize…”
Joe Hill was a labor organizer, Wobbly, and miner. He was framed for a murder he had nothing to do with and was executed in the Utah State Penitentiary  on November 19th, 1915. Many people believe Joe Hill was made an example by the state of Utah for insisting that workers have the right to join Unions and collectively bargain fair wages in exchange for their skills and hard work.

We strive to create leather goods in the spirit of the labor movement. We feel our prices are fair, considering the time, effort, skill, and materials that go into each piece. We use only top quality hides from American Tanneries. We use the best solid brass and stainless steel hardware we can find. Our products are constructed by age old leather crafting processes and made one at a time. They are hand cut, hand dyed, hand punched, hand edged and burnished, and stitched on vintage machines or by hand.
